We are seeking your help to develop a pop-up Pop-Up Library & Makerspace , an easy and turnkey solution for creating off-grid centers using renewable, sustainable, recycled, and upcycled materials. We have created a comprehensive package that includes all necessary parts, which can be purchased, procured, and packed into a shipping container for delivery to the off-grid location. Once delivered, our trained team will provide a full turnkey solution to install the wooden beams or lean-to-shed model structures to create the pop-up Community Center.
This center will provide shelter and will feature solar panels installed on the roof of the shipping container, with energy stored in a battery system to create a microgrid. The design of this Community Center allows for crowdfunding to acquire all the materials and ship them from Seattle, Washington, to Ghana. Our team will then fly from Seattle to Ghana to install the Community Center in an underdeveloped rural community in need of basic electricity and resources like a classroom and a community kitchen. The model includes all necessary materials, such as wooden posts, solar panels, batteries, wires, tools, and equipment, packed into the shipping container to create a turnkey solution.
The Community Center will be a Key Tech Labs S.T.R.E.A.M Center, representing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. It will consist of six unique areas created from two 40-foot shipping containers and wooden awnings for additional space. Each section will focus on one aspect of the STEAM matrix, aiming to provide energy, education, and internet access through a Starlink system, connecting the Community Center to the rest of the world.
Science: Green House
An aeroponics Greenhouse will teach Vertical Gardening and how to generate large amounts of food in a small amount of space.
Technology: Makerspace:
A library and Makerspace will provide hands-on learning opportunities and be a place for mim manufacturing, such as 3D printing the parts for our STEM kits. And Where we can create and build our handcrafted Solar Panels that we sell and use for other solar installation projects.
Reading: Library & Classroom:
This Library & Classroom focuses on teaching digital literacy. It is built for hybrid learning capabilities, like having its own internet, projector screen, and meeting owl for real-time two-way communication.
Engineering: Workshop:
An open-air workshop will facilitate project-based construction.
Art: Theater:
An open-air theater will provide space for artistic and communal events as well as a space for open community gatherings and cultural celebrations.
Math: Kitchen:
An open-air kitchen will support food education, communal meals, and local culinary entrepreneurship.
Basic videos will demonstrate how each part is laid out, introducing students to the names and functions of the items.
Students will follow the steps in a video game/simulation to understand the proper steps and processes.
Students will receive a STEM kit with 3D-printed parts of the turnkey model and will build a mini model of the pop-up community center.
Finally, students will use a VR headset for a fully immersive training experience, going through the step-by-step process of constructing the pop-up community center in the Ghana village.
As the final stage of training, students will travel to a rural community in need to install a real pop-up Community Center, applying their learned skills and making a tangible impact on a community in need of this turnkey solution.
We aim to raise funds through Key Tech Labs to showcase the step-by-step process of creating real impact in off-grid communities and third-world countries. The community center and its components will be developed digitally first, and students will be trained on the installation process.
